Today, teachers are one of the few child-centric public servants that are not required to report child abuse (except sexual assault).
“While it is mandatory for medical practitioners, family members, and paid child care providers to report all cases of suspected child abuse under the Child Act 2001, teachers are not included in this mandatory reporting requirement.” -- WAO
We have over 400,000 teachers in Malaysia: 400,000 witnesses and should-be-trusted adults.

Teachers must become spotlights of cahaya throughout Malaysia, not simply black holes that enable the most dangerous predators in Malaysia: a powerful party versus a defenseless child.
Cadangan Penyelesaian:
We borrow directly from WAO. These reports should be shared to the Welfare Department.
Recommendation 1: Teachers and school administrators should be mandated to report DV (domestic violence) and all child abuse where the child’s welfare is deemed to be at risk. Teachers and school administrators should also receive training on how to identify DV / child abuse, so that they are ready to spring into action once a child victim / survivor crosses their path.
