Pernyataan masalah:

Malaysian women currently are dealing with multiple roles as a primary caregiver, as a wife, mother and as an employee. Caregiving populations outside labour force from 2010 to 2018, had shown that more than 75% of women involved as compared to men. Often, women have to sacrifice their jobs to care for their children or family members who are sick and with disabilities. The Covid-19 pandemic and the implementation of MCO had worsened the situation with the work from home and online classes that make it more difficult particularly on working women. Shared responsibilities between male and female, and equal participation in the development of the family are very much anticipated to ensure a harmonious development of family.

Nilai dan Kepercayaan:

Women form half the population and are important workforce of our nation. Some are with essential abilities and very much needed in the development of the country. They also have responsibilities to ensure the proper upbringing of their children and the harmonious of the family are in tact. This would be very much appreciated if men can also be given opportunities to share the caregiving burdens of the family.

Cadangan Penyelesaian:

1. The male civil servants have been given 7 days paternity leave. It is proposed that the same be given to private sectors’ male workers.
2. Male workers can have extended paternity leave of up to six months to care for their children
